What fire resistance do your doors and windows offer?

Our fire doors and windows are tested and certified in accordance with the relevant national and international standards to ensure a high level of fire resistance. Doors reach classes EW 15 – EW 30 and EI 15 – EI 30 (DP3), while windows reach EW 15 – EW 60 and EI 15 – EI 60 (both DP3 and DP1).

Are your fire doors and windows attractive in design?

Our fire doors and windows are designed with aesthetics in mind, so they suit any interior. In the case of historical replicas, we create an exact replica of the original doors and windows — so the fire-resistant element blends into the original character of the building.

What materials do you use to manufacture fire doors and windows?

We use high-quality wood (laminated euro-profile timber, solid wood), non-combustible materials such as grenamat, water-resistant marine plywood and glass with high heat resistance. Where needed, we finish the surface with MDF boards or veneer. This lets us ensure a high level of fire resistance while preserving the appearance.

How is it possible that wooden doors and windows do not burn?

Wooden windows and doors do of course burn, but only after a defined period of time. This time is given by the numerical value in their fire resistance rating — for example, EI 30 withstands fire for 30 minutes, during which it prevents the fire from spreading. This window of time allows people to evacuate in good time and keeps the fire out of escape routes, for instance.

What are the differences between fire doors and ordinary doors?

Fire doors are designed to provide a high level of fire resistance and to prevent the spread of smoke and fire. Compared with ordinary doors, they have special seals and a special construction that allow them to withstand fire for a defined period of time.

Standards and designations

What are the legal requirements for fire safety in buildings?

The fire-safety requirements for a building are set out in the fire safety design (PBŘ) of the specific structure, which is based on the applicable standards and assessed by the fire service. It defines the fire resistance that each fire closure must meet. We will be glad to help you choose the right solution.

What do the designations EW, EI, DP and others mean in fire safety?

These designations describe the fire performance of a product:

  • E (integrity) — the construction prevents the passage of flames and hot gases.
  • I (insulation) — the construction additionally limits heat transfer to the side away from the fire (e.g. EI).
  • W (radiation) — limits radiated heat (e.g. EW).
  • The number after the letters (e.g. EI 30) indicates the time in minutes for which the element withstands fire.
  • DP1, DP2, DP3 — a classification of construction elements according to how much they contribute to the intensity of a fire (DP1 does not contribute at all).
  • SC — self-closing, the ability of a door to close on its own.

Cooperation and support

My joiner does not make fire doors — what should I do?

We will be glad to help your joiner manufacture fire doors. Send us your contact details and we will agree on the process — we will supply the know-how, all the necessary fire-protection materials (intumescent strips, sealants, locks) as well as certificates and labels. Your joiner then completes the order under our supervision.
